Unusual shapes, unconventional materials, too large or very small scale, non-trivial ways of implementation – all layouts that externally and in the process of creation are very different from most can be attributed to this category. There are no restrictions on size, materials, quantity, subject matter and purpose.
As a rule, non-standard layouts are most often used as a gift when the goal is to surprise, delight, shock and possibly even scare. No less often educational models fall into this category – for example, a dummy of a dental jaw for future dentists, or a 3D engine diagram for mechanical students. Models other than standards can also include museum exhibits or entourage for renovations, presentation models used to advertise companies with different lines of business, as well as various volumetric symbols and logos for the design of retail outlets.
A distinctive feature of non-standard layouts is unpredictability, because you often have to test new materials, look for unconventional approaches to implementing ideas, and use rarely used technologies. If possible, it all comes down to the standard way of creating a model – designing on a computer, cutting on a machine, assembling by hand. The main material, as a rule, is polystyrene with a thickness of 1-2 mm, as well as PVC with a thickness of 5, 8 and 10 mm. There are layouts that are assembled entirely by the hands of layout designers, without using a machine. The technology of casting, 3D printing, molding is no less widespread. If necessary, backlighting can be placed inside the product dynamic or static diodes, cold or warm light. The greatest interest and attention is attracted by the presence of soundtrack and moving mechanical elements.
Citing an example of a non-standard layout, I would like to mention the Upside Down House model of an entertainment center in Rostov-on-Don created by our team. There are several components here, thanks to which the advertising campaign of the owners of the attraction is doomed to success – an unusual appearance of the object, rich colors, a bright color accent on the curbstone, an information card on the roof of the house, as well as the ability to watch an advertising video after pressing a button. Thus, a person who has never heard of this place will receive detailed information about it, its location, appearance, and will also experience emotions of delight and surprise. Our team is able to translate absolutely any crazy idea into a mini reality and present it to a specific person or to the whole surrounding world.
